C-PLUG CEMENT RESTRICTOR

Designed to guarantee optimal bone cement penetration and stable fixation.

C-PLUG cement restrictor characteristics:

Modern cementing techniques require optimal creation of a cement layer within the canal. Cement restrictors are a recognised component in modern cementing techniques and reduce the risk of revision surgeries.

The Surgival  C-PLUG® cement restrictor makes it possible to seal the intramedullary cavity, increase penetration, improve fixation and prevent the bone from experiencing leakage during cement application and pressurisation in surgical interventions.

In addition, the C-plug® cement restrictor:

  • Is biodegradable and biocompatible.
  • Is made of 57% gelatine, 37% glycerol, 6% water and 0.2% methylparaben.
  • Designed with PPRS® system (Peak Pressure Release System): the distal pressure with the C-plug® is reduced to 300 millibars. A specially designed vent enables airflow and helps balance the pressure on either side of the mechanism. This ensures the C-plug® stays exactly where it was initially placed.
  • It is available in six different sizes (from 8 mm to 18 mm).
  • It has an all-in-one application system: The innovative instrument design enables measurement of the femoral canal and insertion of the C-Plug® with the same mechanism. The insertion rod features a true scale, which enables the depth to be calculated, while the transport caps provide exact diameter identification.

The specific concept of the C-plug® and its elastic and mechanical properties result in:

  • Uniform cement layer
  • Deep cement penetration
  • Effective protection of the medullary canal
  • Reduced distal pressure
  • Total resorption after a few days
  • Prevents revision surgery to remove the cement plug
