Primary knee

GENUTECH primary knee prosthesis system

The GENUTECH® total knee prosthesis system, indicated for knee arthroplasties, has been designed and developed by Surgival to provide an optimal combination of resistance, mobility, fixation and durability, both for cemented and uncemented requirements.

This system is used for arthroplasties that will preserve the posterior cruciate ligament (NPS) and those that will not (PS).

Articular system characteristics:

Femoral component – Tibial insert

  • Maximum congruence to minimize stresses and reduce friction and wear.
  • The design of the condyles permits flexion up to 140º.
  • Restriction of mobility associated with selection of the PS or NPS model.
  • In a femorotibial joint replacement, there should always be congruency between the sizes of the femoral component and the insert.

Femoral component – Patella

  • The design of the femoral component’s patellar canal permits a smooth and anatomical motion for the patella throughout the range of flexion.
  • Maximum congruence to minimize stresses and reduce friction and wear.

Nonarticular system characteristics:

– Tray – Tibial insert

  • Total modularity among tray and tibial insert sizes, both for NPS and PS systems.
  • Double fixation: primary fixation through anteroposterior clipping and secondary fixation with a bolt, guaranteeing a highly reliable assembly.

– Tray – Straight stem/tibial augmentation block

  • The system also permits the use of straight stems in the tibial zone, as well as augmentation blocks in order to cover any moderate tibial bone deficiency possible during the primary surgery.

– PS femoral component – Femoral supplements

  • The system also allows the use of femoral supplements (distal and posterior) in order to cover any moderate femoral bone deficiency possible during the primary surgery.

Its instrumentation, based on the innovative EASY PLUS® concept, was designed with two objectives: facilitating the surgeon’s work and minimizing patient risk.
