QUARTER: Nuevo proyecto SURGIVAL cofinanciado por CDTI y FEDER

En Surgival finalizamos con éxito el nuevo proyecto QUARTER.

El proyecto consiste en un “nuevo sistema acetabular antropométrico y modular, de compatibilidad de par articular global y amplio rango de circunducción” y ha sido financiado a través de CDTI, con número de expediente IDI-20160774 y cofinanciado por el Fondo Europeo De Desarrollo Regional (FEDER).

En el marco del proyecto se han alcanzado todos los objetivos generales y específicos identificando como los más relevantes los siguientes:

  • Desarrollo de un Sistema de Cadera Acetabular con los Cotilos QUARTER que abarcan desde diámetro Ø 40 mm. hasta Ø 68 mm.
  • Desarrollo de un Polietileno Altamente Reticulado UHMWPE-XL aplicado al sistema de nuevo de Insertos QUARTER.
  • Insertos QUARTER con espesor mínimo para sus configuraciones menores de 5 mm. según norma ISO 21535. Disponibilidad de configuraciones “Neutras y Antiluxantes” así como posibilidad de combinaciones con Cabezas Femorales de diámetros: Ø 22 mm., Ø 28 mm., Ø 32 mm., Ø 36 mm., Ø 40 mm.
  • Diseño de Cabezas Femorales en material metálico (Acero Inoxidable y Aleación Cromo-Cobalto), así como Cerámico para los diámetros:  Ø 22 mm., Ø 28 mm., Ø 32 mm., Ø 36 mm., Ø 40 mm.
  • Diseño de la Instrumentación QUARTER que permite la valoración funcional a través de cúpulas, insertos y cabezas de prueba. Esto proporciona al cirujano la posibilidad de llevar a cabo diversas reducciones de prueba para la comprobación del rango de movilidad y tensión ligamentaria.

Además, siguiendo la normativa actual, QUARTER ya dispone de la certificación CE. El proyecto “Certificación de proyecto de I+D+i para el nuevo Sistema Acetabular de Cadera Antropométrico y  Modular – Anualidad 2017”, ha sido financiado por IVACE a través del programa de Certificación de proyectos de I+D+i, con número de expediente IMACPA/2018/9 y cofinanciado por el Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER).

El objetivo ha sido la obtención de la Certificación como I+D+i del proyecto, siendo calificado por la certificadora EQA como I+D+i, lo que ha permitido solicitar el correspondiente informe motivado al Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidad.

MEDICAL FAIR INDIA 2018: Surgival goes to Mumbai to exhibit its innovations

Medical Fair India 2018. India’s number 1 medical fair

Medical Fair India 2018 is held at Bombay Convention & Exhibition Center in Mumbai, from March 16 to 18, 2018. It is largest medical fair in the country. The organizers of this event are MEDICAlliance, the same ones that organize the biggest medical fair in the world: MEDICA Dusseldorf.

Surgival will exhibit its entire range of products for Orthopedics and Traumatology (knee, hip, traumatology, biomaterials, bone cement and surgical instruments). Simo Bensassi (Export Manager) and Ana Carmen Pardo (Export Area Manager) will be in Hall 1, booth H33 attending all visitors interested in products for Orthopaedics and Traumatology.


Medical Fair India 2018 – Orthopaedics – Knee Replacement

The company’s strategy is to expand its presence in the Asian continent. Just a week ago Surgival was exhibiting at Medical Japan 2018 (Osaka, Japan). In August Surgival will be at Medical Fair Asia 2018 (Singapore). Currently Asia represents a very important part for the company’s turnover, with a notable presence in several countries. These actions are intended to consolidate countries and expand new markets for this year 2018.

Specifically, India is a country with a lot of growth potential. It is the second most populous country in the world (with a total of 1,240 million inhabitants). In just 6 years, public health expenditure per capita has doubled. Although still low, the growth of this last decade and the forecast are exponential. The Indian GDP increases an average of more than 5.5% per year.

Orthopedics training: learning about hip arthroplasty from Spain to Colombia

Training is essential in Orthopedics and Traumatology. The health and improvement of patient mobility is at stake, and in addition, the incorporation of new products creates the need to be continuously updated to be able to implant them correctly.

Surgival has always considered that the correct training of surgeons and their technical team is essential to ensure the success of its products and the patient’s surgery.

Last week the company organized a training session with the objective that the technical team of its client from Colombia be trained in the latest product developments. Specifically, the surgical specialties that were reviewed were:

  • Partial hip arthroplasty
  • Total hip arthroplasty cemented
  • Total non-cemented hip arthroplasty

The instrumentalists had the opportunity to resolve all their doubts, tell their experiences in the operating room and know first hand the correct way to implement a hip surgery with various Surgival products. The products used for this training were:

  • KAREY ™ cementless stem
  • SELF-LOCKING cemented and cementless stem
  • BIPOLAR head
  • MULLER cemented cup
  •  S.H.Y.® cementless, press-fit cup

Training in revision knee prosthesis from Spain to Latin America

Continuous training has always been one of the most important values for Surgival. Advances in technology have made it possible in recent years to cross all frontiers and offer direct, specialized and real-time training without having to travel.

On September 19, 2017, a new online workshop was organized, in which Simo Bensassi (Export Manager of Surgival) and Elisa Félez (Export Area Manager of Surgival) gave a course of Revision Knee Prosthesis with the GENUTECH® CCK instruments for the technical team of a Latin American distributor.

The duration of the training was approximately 3 hours, and the spectators had the opportunity to review step by step the surgical technique, and resolve their doubts in real time.

Surgival is available to all partners to train in the surgical techniques of knee, hip and traumatology of their products.

Very good vibrations in the first year of Medical Fair Thailand

Surgival attended Medical Fair Thailand for the first time, held on September 6-8 of 2017 in Bangkok.

The International Team, Simo Benssasi and Ana Carmen Pardo, and the company’s CEO, Mara Gracia, attended the event in order to present the company’s consolidated products and innovations of this year.

It were three very intense days in which the company got to establish strategic contacts in Thailand and neighboring countries, to continue with the international expansion that is experiencing year after year.

Next year 2018 Surgival will attend the Medical Fair Asia, to be held on August 29-31 in Singapore, with the aim of continuing the sales growth of the Asian zone.


Once again Surgival participates in the 50-10K-50Horas challenge of Avapace Corre

Surgival participates again in the challenge organized every year by Avapace Corre, the athletic club of the Valencian Association of Cerebral Palsy Aid (Avapace). The event was held on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of June in the tracks of athletics of the Turia Gardens, in Valencia, Spain.

The challenge is to perform 50 races of 10 kilometers each.

The company participated at 1:00 pm on Saturday in one of the races, with 29 workers and relatives involved.

The atmosphere that was lived in the event was very healthy, respectful and solidary, with hundreds of people involved in the same cause. Surgival tries to contribute in causes as important as Cerebral Palsy.

The company promises to repeat the experience in 2018, hoping it will become a tradition.


Mauritania surgeons visit Surgival headquarters with Surgeon to Surgeon Program

Surgival receives 4 doctors and 1 theatre nurse from Mauritania with the Surgeon to Surgeon program. 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th of February the surgeons will attend several knee and hip arthroplasties, will practise the surgival techniques with workshops and will know the Surgival headquarters in Valencia.

The aim of this visit is to train the doctors with the best surgical techniques to implant Surgival products. Surgival reference doctors will teach them their tips and way to operate with GENUTECH knee system for example.

The company thanks the support of all the people involved with the Surgeon to Surgeon program, where doctors and technicians from all over the world can get first class training by world reference surgeons.

Once again, Surgival in Arab Health 2017

Surgival never misses the important ARAB HEALTH event, based every year in Dubai, UAE. This 2017 the company was attended by its export team and its CEO, Mara Gracia.

The company’s international team was exhibiting the products from January 30 to February 2. As a remarkable innovation, it was the first time that the new column line that Surgival intends to market since this year, was displayed.

This new column line has very innovative, versatile and adapted products to all the needs that surgeons may have. Both current and potential customers were very pleased to see this new range of column products.

The company is already managing its new international event: the AAOS (American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons), which will take place in San Diego, March 14-18.

Surgival exhibits at SLAOT Punta Cana 2016

The SLAOT International Congress is an annual event that take place in a different city from Latin America every year. All Orthopedic and Traumatology associations from Latin America meet in this congress. This year the event was in the Hard Rock Hotel from Punta Cana, from 12 to 16 of October.

Surgival was exhibiting its product portfolio and company in its stand (number 39).

The company has a lot of market presece in several countries of he Latin region such as Dominican Republic, Colombia, Cuba, Argentina or Panama. It is a perfect chance to exchange information with doctors that use the Surgival implants and instruments, answer questions, exhibit the product portfolio to new doctors and establish new business contacts.

The final sensations of this event are very possitive. Next year 2017 Surgival will repeat for sure.

Senegal doctors involved in the last Surgeon to Surgeon

From 19th to 21st October, the following doctors from Senegal were invited to the Surgeon to Surgeon program held in Barcelona: Dr. Momar Sene (Principal Hospital), Dr. André-Daniel Sane (CHU Hospital) and the Instrumentist, Mr. Daouda Tamba (CHU Hospital).

Some of Surgival´s Reference doctors like Dr. Pere Hinarejos, Dr. Xavier Pelfort, Dr. JA Hernández Hermoso, Dr. Francisco Maculé and Dr. Enric Cruz were responsible for directing Genutech primary knee arthroplasties, with the new DCF instrumentation and revision knee Genutech CCK.

This program was performed in Esperança Hospital, Consorci Hospital of Anoia, the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital, the Clinic Hospital and the Hospital of Granollers.

The doctors were very satisfied and giving particular emphasis on the new instruments of primary knee DCF, with EASY INSTRUMENTS PLUS technology and, among other advantages, reduces the time of intervention by 15% while minimizing its risks.
